It was the year of 1924, when O.P. Bishop and R.C. Tadlock established Bishop and Tadlock. The business was located on Ist street in Forest, Ms along the railroad tracks. During this time, livestock were shipped in box cars to packing plants to be processed. After R.C. Tadlocks son, Luther, returned from WWII, R.C. bought O.P. Bishop's shares in the business, and renamed it LutherE Tadlock Auction Barn. The business was ran as a father/son operation until R. C. and then Tadlock passed.

At that time, Luther and his wife Ouida, purchased land at 1100 Hwy 35 in Forest, Ms and renamed the business Tadlock Stockyard. They ran and operated the business until November 21,1969, when their lives were tragically taken in an automobile accident. Their two children, David and Pequita, were only 15 and 13 years old at the time.

Tadlock Stockyard was then ran and operated by family members, who were caring for David and Pequita, at the time. In the year of 1974, when David turned 18 years old, he appeared in court to be legally declared 21 years of age in hopes to become the sole owner of Tadlock Stockyard.

The court ruled in his favor and he became the owner of his parents stockyard. At that time the business was going through many trials and triumphs, but David was determined to keep Tadlock Stockyard open. David found, himself in the office of Mr. Bill McCravey, who was a banker and a friend to David's parents, Luther and Ouida, in hopes to get a loan that would help get the business back on track. Mr. McCravey loaned David the money he needed, but explained to David that he was only doing so, 'because he had a good daddy' David worked hard in the years to come, paid Mr. McCravey back in full, and finally had Tadlock Stockyard running successfully.

In 1989, David and his wife Sandy, renovated Tadlock Stockyard by adding an additional barn, restaurant and parking. Currently, Tadlock Stockyard is still owned and operated by David and Sandy Tadlock, and their two daughters Char'Lesa and Greggina. Char'Lesa is a graduate of Mississippi State University, where she received a bachelor in animal science, and is now the barn manager at Tadlock Stockyard. Greggina received her nursing degree and worked as an Emergency Room Registered Nurse for almost 10 years before coming back to help run the family business. She is now the full-time office manager at Tadlock Stockyard and continues to maintain her RN license.

Tadlock Stockyard is currently the largest family-owned and operated stockyard in the state of Mississippi and sells more livestock than any other stockyard in the state.

Each week, hundreds of different sellers, that are located all over the state, bring cattle to be auctioned off on sale day. We have numerous buyers, who are bonded by Packers and Stockyard, and farmers bidding on the cattle being sold. The market is very competitive at Tadlock Stockyard, meaning they have more than just one person bidding on the livestock being sold. The business is also equipped with two additional locations, Bay Springs and Canton, where cattle can be dropped off by customers. The cattle are then hauled by Tadlock Stockyard trucks to Forest, Ms where they are auctioned off to the highest bidder. The business has trucks and trailers available for customers who need their cattle hauled as well. Tadlock Stockyard has an outstanding team of hardworking employees, who are BQA certified, that can help pen, sort, haul, and administer vaccinations to your livestock.

Tadlock Stockyard's sale day is every Monday, rain or shine, beginning at 11 O'Clock. The business starts accepting cattle on Sunday Morning at 8 O'Clock, right after Cowboy Church. Anyone can attend Cowboy church at 7:30 on Sunday mornings.
